Plot: The film starts with Hitler creating a super soldier serum. Chezhiyan brings this serum to India and, due to unforeseen circumstances, uses it on his son. In the present, Vasanth Ravi plays a YouTuber who is obsessed with finding superhumans. He inadvertently gets mixed up in an eco-terror plot, which drives the main storyline.

Performances:

  • Sathyaraj: Delivers a solid performance, bringing gravitas to his role.
  • Vasanth Ravi: Adequate in his role as the curious YouTuber, though there are moments where his performance feels flat.
  • Tanya Hope: Struggles with her role, delivering a less convincing performance.
  • Supporting Cast: The rest of the cast performs decently, fitting well within the scope of their characters.

Technicians:

  • Direction: Guhan Senniappan’s direction is competent, but the predictable plot hampers the overall impact.
  • Writing: The screenplay is straightforward and lacks twists, making it too predictable for a thriller.
  • Cinematography: Prabhu Rhagav captures the film effectively, with decent visuals given the budget constraints.
  • Editing: Gopi Krishnan's editing is clean, though it doesn't add much dynamism to the predictable plot.
  • Music: Ghibran's music is serviceable, with the background score occasionally elevating scenes.

Strengths:

  • VFX: Surprisingly good for a low-budget film, adding a necessary layer of believability to the superhuman elements.
  • Concept: The idea of integrating a super soldier serum into an Indian setting is intriguing and unique.

Weaknesses:

  • Predictable Plot: The story is straightforward and lacks the necessary twists and turns to keep the audience fully engaged.
  • Screenplay: Weak and fails to create suspense or excitement, crucial for a thriller of this nature.
  • Performance of Tanya Hope: Does not meet expectations, which affects the film’s overall impact.

My Personal Take on this film: Weapon has an interesting concept with its integration of a super soldier serum into an Indian setting, but it falls short due to its predictable plot and lackluster screenplay. The VFX are commendable given the budget, and the performances are generally good, but the film could have benefitted from a tighter script and more engaging direction. If made with a higher budget and a star-studded cast, it might have had a better chance of success.
