‘Yevam’(2024) Movie review
Directed by: Prakash Dantuluri
Produced by: Navdeep, Pavan Goparaju
Starring: Chandini Chowdary, Vasishta Simha, Jai Bharat Raj
Genres: Comedy, Drama
Country: India
Language: Telugu
Plot:
Sowmya joins as PSI at the Vikarabad police station, with Abhiram as the SI. One day, a girl gets murdered, and Chandini connects it with another case, discovering that a person named Yugandhar is trapping girls who love film stars. The story starts with Chandini coming to the police station to be stationed under Jai Bharat, whom she idolizes. The plot then moves on to the case of hero fan girl abuse and murder.
Performances:
- Chandini Chowdary: Her performance is average, lacking the depth needed for her role.
- Vasishta Simha: Delivers an okay performance but is hindered by the weak script.
- Jai Bharat Raj: His portrayal of the SI is competent but unremarkable.
Technicians:
- Direction and Writing: Navdeep and Pavan Goparaju fail to deliver a compelling narrative. The writing lacks coherence and depth, leading to a predictable and uninspired plot.
- Music: The soundtrack does not leave a lasting impression and fails to elevate the film.
- Cinematography and Editing: Both aspects are mediocre, with nothing notable to enhance the storytelling.
Strengths:
- Unfortunately, there are no significant strengths in this film.
Weaknesses:
- Story: The plot is predictable and lacks originality.
- Screenplay: The pacing is poor, with many scenes feeling dragged out and unnecessary.
- Performances: The actors do not deliver compelling performances, with most characters lacking depth.
- Plot Predictability: The narrative is easy to foresee, diminishing any potential suspense or engagement.
- Lag: The film suffers from slow pacing, making it difficult to maintain audience interest.
My Personal Take on the Film:
"Yevam" is a film that falls below average, feeling more like an extended short film or web series than a feature-length movie. The lack of a compelling plot, weak performances, and poor direction make it a forgettable experience. Low-budget films should at least have a strong narrative or unique element to keep the audience engaged, but "Yevam" fails to deliver on both fronts.
