Plot:

Munjya is a supernatural comedy horror film that dives into Konkan folklore. The story revolves around a mischievous spirit named Munjya, who haunts peepal trees or wells. This spirit arises when a man dies unmarried, causing disturbances to fulfill his unfulfilled desires. The narrative explores how the lead characters deal with this haunting presence.


Performances:

Sharvari Wagh:

Sharvari delivered an earnest performance as the lead female character. Her portrayal of modern thinking and adaptability shines through in her role.

Abhay Verma:

Abhay, playing Bittu, brings a sincere effort to a character who often finds himself tormented by visions. His performance stands out as one of the better aspects of the film.

Sathyaraj:

Sathyaraj’s role feels a bit outdated, and his comedic attempts don’t land as well as intended. His portrayal is just average.

Mona Singh:

Mona Singh, playing the lead’s mother, carries her role effectively, providing a solid performance that adds depth to the narrative.

Aditya Sarpotdar presents an intriguing concept rooted in folklore, but the execution feels lacking. The film had potential, but it falls short due to its predictable storyline and underwhelming direction.

Cinematography:

Jishnu Bhattacharjee’s cinematography is serviceable, capturing the eerie and comedic tones of the film adequately.

Considering the film’s budget, the VFX and graphics are commendable. They may seem a bit childish to some, but they are impressive for a film of this scale.

The film’s commendable VFX and decent music are some of its saving graces, but they aren’t enough to elevate it beyond an average flick.
