I Hate Love(2024) - "A good idea derailed by poor execution and lackluster storytelling."

  • Directed by: VI. Venkatesh
  • Starring by: Priyanka Chollangi, Nagi Jabardest, Kittaiah, Ravi Mallidi, Subbu Mudhunuri, Seelam Srivalli
  • Genres: Drama
  • Categories: Telugu Featured, Telugu Movies 2024
  • Country: India
  • Language: Telugu

Plot:

I Hate Love revolves around Ramababu, who despises love for personal reasons but unexpectedly falls for Sita. Sita’s father believes Ramababu is the ideal match for his daughter, but complications arise when Ramababu refuses the union.

Performance:

  • Subbu Mudhunuri (Hero): While he fits the role, his expressions lack depth, making emotional moments less impactful. Improvement is needed to enhance audience connection.
  • Seelam Srivalli (Heroine): Delivers a decent performance but is limited by the script, with little scope to showcase her talent.
  • Supporting Cast: The rest of the cast performs adequately but fails to elevate the story. The villain’s role is especially underwhelming, offering little significance to the plot.

Technical Aspects:

  • Direction: VI. Venkatesh’s attempt at a unique storyline falters due to poor execution and a confusing screenplay. A linear narrative or better flashback integration could have improved clarity.
  • Music: Subpar background score and forgettable songs fail to complement the narrative.
  • Cinematography: The visuals and use of regional slang stand out as the film’s strongest points, providing authenticity to the setting.
  • Production Values: Despite the low budget, the film manages a decent visual appeal, but the overall execution leaves much to be desired.

Strengths:

  1. Authentic visuals capturing regional essence.
  2. Use of local slang adds a touch of realism.

Weaknesses:

  1. Subpar performances, especially from the lead actors.
  2. Predictable and uninspired storyline.
  3. Poor screenplay execution, leading to confusion and lack of engagement.
  4. Weak villain character and unconvincing supporting roles.
  5. Slow pacing and overly long scenes disrupt the flow.

My Personal Take On Cinema:

I Hate Love starts with a unique premise but loses its way due to lackluster storytelling and execution. While the visuals and slang bring authenticity, they cannot save the film from its predictable narrative and lack of emotional depth. Despite the effort to bring a low-budget film to the big screen, the experience falls short of expectations.

Strengths: Visuals, slang.
Weaknesses: Acting, screenplay, pacing, predictable plot.
